Kathy-Sue Dunn is a Commissioner for Calhoun County District 1. As part of the Commission, she serves as Chair of the Calhoun Visitor Bureau and a member of the Calhoun County Board of Health. Kathy-Sue also serves as a member of various community entities, including Southwest Michigan First and Southwest Michigan Community Development Corporation. She also currently serves as Chairwoman of the Kellogg Community College Foundation and a founding member of Women of Impact Battle Creek.

Jim Blocker is the Chief of Police for the Battle Creek Police Department. He also serves in the Army National Guard as the Provost Marshall at Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Cornerstone University in 1997, and a Master of Public Administration from Western Michigan University in 2007.

Kelli Scott has served as the Administrator / Controller for Calhoun County since February 2009. Before joining the County, her experience includes work as a licensed practicing Certified Public Accountant with an accounting firm, and as a Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at two community colleges. Kelli earned a Bachelor of Business degree in Accounting and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Michigan.

 

Kathleen Cowles

Kathleen Cowles is the Director of Emergency Services at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, where she has been employed since 1995. She is also involved with, among other volunteer and charitable programs, Big Brothers Big Sisters. Ms. Cowles earned an Associate degree in Nursing from Kellogg Community College, and a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in the Science in Nursing from Walden University.

Deb Davis is a Commercial Lender at Southern Michigan Bank & Trust in Battle Creek.  She is also a current member and past-President of the Rotary Club of Battle Creek and a former board member of disAbility Connections in Jackson.  Deb earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Economics from Spring Arbor College and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Western Michigan University.

 

Dr. Todd Halonen

Dr. Todd Halonen is the owner dentist at Halonen Family Dentistry. He grew up in Battle Creek Lakeview and received degrees at the University of Michigan in Biology (2005) and Doctor of Dental Surgery (2010). He and his wife, Dr. Allison Halonen of Cereal City Pediatrics, have settled back in Battle Creek to raise their two daughters. They enjoy active roles in the community to help improve the lives of those in Battle Creek and the surrounding areas

Dr. Preston Hicks owns PH & Associates Management Consultants in Battle Creek. He is also a Trustee of the Battle Creek Community Foundation and a former Board Member of Family and Children’s Services. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Counselor Education from the University of Virginia in 1988 and 1990, respectively, and a PhD in Higher Education from the University of Michigan in 2006.

Richard Lindsey is the Executive Director of Development and Community/Legislative Affairs at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall. He formerly served as Corporation Counsel for the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners. He has also served on the Michigan Indigent Defense Commission since 2014. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in History from Albion College in 1991 and a law degree from The George Washington University National Law Center in 1994.

Dr. Terance Lunger serves as the Superintendent of the Calhoun Intermediate School District (CISD). The CISD is an Educational Service Agency having eight divisions which serve the 18 school districts in Calhoun, Branch, and Barry counties. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Hillsdale College, Master’s degrees in Education and Counseling from Eastern Michigan University, and a Doctorate from Eastern Michigan University. He and his wife, Marjorie, have two daughters and reside in Marshall.

Sheryl L. Mitchell has served as the City Manager for the city of Albion since September 2014.  Previously, she served as a Senior Analyst for the Oakland County Board of Commissions for 17 years and worked with the City Council for Detroit.  Sheryl earned a Doctorate in Business Administration from Lawrence Technological University, a Master’s in Public Administration from Central Michigan University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan (Dearborn).
