Kathy-Sue Vette is a Commissioner for Calhoun County District 1, where she serves as Vice Chair. As part of the Commission, she serves as Chair of the Calhoun Visitor Bureau. Kathy-Sue also serves as a member of various community entities, including Southwest Michigan First, Goguac Lake Association, Southwest Michigan Behavioral Health and is a founding member of Women of Impact Battle Creek. Kathy-Sue is married to Terry and they have five adult children. The Vette’s live in Battle Creek.

Frank Straub, Ph.D., is the Director of the National Police Foundation’s Center for Mass Violence Response Studies. He has led in-depth studies of targeted violence events in San Bernardino, Kalamazoo, Orlando, Parkland, and the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. He leads the Averted School Violence project, a national database, funded by the US Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, which tracks, analyzes and reports on averted and completed school attacks. He has also lead a DHS funded Countering Violent Extremism project in Boston, MA and consults with several government and non-government organizations in the area of counter-extremism and counter-terrorism. Dr. Straub is a licensed therapist in Michigan. He serves as a clinician on the Calhoun County Sheriff Office’s Peer Support Team. He has authored articles and reports on school violence, crisis response, community policing and violence prevention. He speaks regularly at national and international conferences, and has participated in numerous Congressional and White House briefings.

Kelli Scott has served as the Administrator / Controller for Calhoun County since February 2009. Before joining the County, her experience includes work as a licensed practicing Certified Public Accountant with an accounting firm, and as a Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at two community colleges. Kelli earned a Bachelor of Business degree in Accounting and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Michigan.

Dr. Terance Lunger serves as the Superintendent of the Calhoun Intermediate School District (CISD). The CISD is an Educational Service Agency having eight divisions which serve the 18 school districts in Calhoun, Branch, and Barry counties. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Hillsdale College, Master’s degrees in Education and Counseling from Eastern Michigan University, and a Doctorate from Eastern Michigan University. He and his wife, Marjorie, have two daughters and reside in Marshall.

Deputy Chief Troy Gilleylen is with the Battle Creek Police Department, where he has served for 23 years. He serves as the Patrol Deputy Chief and previously served as the Patrol Lieutenant. He has worked as a Patrol and Detective Sergeant, Community Services Supervisor, K-9 Supervisor and Bomb Unit Commander. He also served on the School Safety Task Force and reinstated the Police Explorer Program. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Siena Heights University and completed Staff and Command course and New Chief’s School at Michigan State University.

Sheriff Steven Hinkley has been with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office for over 30 years. He has worked in various positions within patrol, corrections, court transport security, the detective bureau, and supervision. Before being appointed to Sheriff in March 2020, and elected January 1, 2021, he was a detective/sergeant and oversaw multiple Sheriff’s Office units, including the major crimes task force. Sheriff Hinkley was an adjunct instructor for 25 years at KCC and taught at KVCC Police Academy. He attended Michigan State University, University of North Florida Police Technology & Management, Northwestern Center for Public Safety, Jackson Community College and Lansing Community College. Sheriff Hinkley and his wife, Kimberly, have three children and nine grandchildren.

Christina Ramos is a KNA Lead -Facility & Utility Systems for the Kellogg Company where she has been employed since 2010. Ms. Ramos’ community experience, insight, and desire to improve the community in which she lives drew her to want to be more involved and join the Summit Pointe Board. Ms. Ramos also volunteers her time with Meals on Wheels and the United Way. She has a Bachelor of Science in Food Science from Michigan State University.

Sherii Sherban’s occupation is in publishing with employment at WW Thayne Advertising Consultants. She earned her Bachelors of Science Degree from Michigan State University. She has chaired and participated in several community and civic board activities including Miles for Memories, Olivet College Adjunct Faculty, Michigan Dementia Coalition, Area Agency on Aging, Community Corrections, North Pointe Woods, Creating Avenues for Recovery & Support, and American Red Cross.

Dr. Tino Smith, a Battle Creek native, is Senior Pastor/CEO of Kingdom Builders Worldwide. He is a life coach, author and a former Calhoun County Commissioner. Dr. Smith holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Aenon College, a Master’s degree in Theology from United College and Seminary, a Doctorate in Theology from Lighthouse College, and a Doctorate in Philosophy from Indiana Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Nicole A. Smith, have two children.

Stephanie Swanson is a Registered Nurse in Critical Care and Emergency at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Spring Arbor University and holds a Master of Fine Arts – Non-fiction Writing from Solstice at Lasall University. She also serves as Vice Chair on the Board of The Haven. Stephanie has two adult daughters and is also a bereaved mother. She enjoys four grandchildren

Leroy Wright is the Vice President for Student Development & Dean of Students at Albion College since 2019. Previously, he served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. Mr. Wright also served 10 years as the Dean of Students at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI. He brings over 27 years of experience as an educator and professional in the fields of Higher Education, Student Affairs and Human Development. Mr. Wright is committed to helping students reach their fullest potential as scholars and future leaders. Mr. Wright plans to contribute to the enhancement of the Summit Pointe board through his strong team philosophy of organizational development, care and data-driven storytelling. Mr. Wright has a Bachelor of Science in Business from Ferris State University and a Masters of Education in Counseling from Northern Arizona University.
