Kathy-Sue Vette is a Commissioner for Calhoun County District 1, where she serves as Vice Chair.  As part of the Commission, she serves as Chair of the Calhoun Visitor Bureau. Kathy-Sue also serves as a member of various community entities, including Southwest Michigan First, Goguac Lake Association, Southwest Michigan Behavioral Health and is a founding member of Women of Impact Battle Creek.

Richard Lindsey is an attorney at the Abbott Thomson Maudlin Parker Beer & Rick, PLC law firm and practices in Calhoun and Jackson Counties.  He formerly served as Executive Director of Legal and Community Affairs at Oaklawn Hospital and Corporation Counsel for Calhoun County.  Richard serves on a number of boards and committees including the Marshall School Board, the Marshall Area Economic Development Alliance, and the Calhoun County Senior Millage Allocation Authority.  He served on the Michigan Indigent Defense Commission as an appointee of Governor Rick Snyder.  He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Albion College in 1991 and a Juris Doctor degree from The George Washington University National Law Center in 1994.

Kelli Scott

Kelli Scott has served as the Administrator / Controller for Calhoun County since February 2009.  Before joining the County, her experience includes work as a licensed practicing Certified Public Accountant with an accounting firm, and as a Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at two community colleges.  Kelli earned a Bachelor of Business degree in Accounting and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Michigan.

Deborah L. Davis

Deb Davis is a Commercial Lender at Southern Michigan Bank & Trust in Battle Creek.  She is also a current member and past-President of the Rotary Club of Battle Creek and a former board member of disAbility Connections in Jackson.  Deb earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Economics from Spring Arbor College and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Western Michigan University. 

 Kathleen Cowles

Kathleen Cowles is the Director of Nursing at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, where she has been employed since 1995.  She is also involved with, among other volunteer and charitable programs, Big Brothers Big Sisters.  Ms. Cowles earned an Associate degree in Nursing from Kellogg Community College, and a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in the Science in Nursing from Walden University.

Patrick Garrett

Patrick Garrett is owner of Garrett Healthcare Consulting and former CEO of the Battle Creek Health System.  He has also served as CEO of hospitals in Montana, Missouri and Florida.  He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Ferris State University and a Master’s degree in Health Services Management from the University of Missouri. He has served on various area nonprofit boards and committees since moving to Battle Creek in 1999.

 Dr. Preston Hicks

Dr. Preston Hicks owns PH & Associates Management Consultants in Battle Creek.  He is also a Trustee of the Battle Creek Community Foundation and a former Board Member of Family and Children’s Services.  He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Counselor Education from the University of Virginia in 1988 and 1990, respectively, and a PhD in Higher Education from the University of Michigan in 2006.

Dr. Terance Lunger

Dr. Terance Lunger serves as the Superintendent of the Calhoun Intermediate School District (CISD).  The CISD is an Educational Service Agency having eight divisions which serve the 18 school districts in Calhoun, Branch, and Barry counties.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Hillsdale College, Master’s degrees in Education and Counseling from Eastern Michigan University, and a Doctorate from Eastern Michigan University.  He and his wife, Marjorie, have two daughters and reside in Marshall.

Lt. James Martens

Lt. Martens has been employed in law enforcement with the Battle Creek Police Department for the past 19 years.  He earned his Bachelors of Arts Degree from Hillsdale College; and has participated on the Pennfield School Board. 

Marcia Starkey

Marcia Starkey retired from the role of Director of Resource Development at the United Way of the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Region in 2015.   She earned her Bachelors of Arts Degree from Albion College.  She has chaired and participated in several community and civic activities including Kids ‘N’ Stuff Children’s Museum Board, ELT Club, Albion Philanthropic Women’s Organization, American Association of University Women, Albion Public School Athletics, and Albion Civic Foundation Board of Trustees. Marcia currently works part-time for the Albion-Homer United Way.

Sherii Sherban

Sherii Sherban’s occupation is in publishing with employment at WW Thayne Advertising Consultants.  She earned her Bachelors of Science Degree from Michigan State University.  She has chaired and participated in several community and civic board activities including Miles for Memories, Olivet College Adjunct Faculty, Michigan Dementia Coalition, Area Agency on Aging, Community Corrections, North Pointe Woods, Creating Avenues for Recovery & Support, and American Red Cross.

Scott Frank is the Facility Director of NovaCare Rehabilitation with offices in both the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo areas.  He earned his Masters of Physical Therapy Degree in May of 2002; and Bachelors of Health Science Degree in December 2000 from Oakland University.
